The Final Born: Updates, Plans, and Call for Beta Readers!

It’s finally time for a major update on what’s happening with my next book: The Final Born! So far it’s looking like a late spring or early summer release in 2024! But before we get there, we have a few updates to discuss…

So it’s been a while since I’ve posted here as it’s been a while since I’ve had anything to post! Book progress was a little slow for a while as some feedback I was waiting on was delayed but it was well worth it as the book has vastly improved with the last revision! I even have an inkling of a possible sequel – but let’s not get ahead of ourselves! What’s new with The Final Born?

Well, I have a better idea of a release date now! The plan is late Spring, between April or May! That is subject to change but as long as everything else goes according to plan it should go well.

The ending has changed and I believe it is much more satisfying than the original plan – and the feedback I’ve gotten on combat scenes is great! The characters have all recieved a lot of development: most notably Leandre, the youngest of the main trio (Calypso, Leandre, and Ophelya are the main three). He definitely needed it, and now his chapters have become some of my favorites to work on! The thing I am happiest to hear though, is readers most enjoyed the worldbuilding! I put a lot of time and effort into developing the lands of Vasyla, so I am so happy to hear readers are enjoying it.

That being said, I’ve only had a few beta readers now, and the book is in need of one more round of feedback before we move on to ARC readers. So if you would be interested in giving it a read and giving me some feedback that would be AMAZING.

What is a beta reader? A beta reader is a crucial help to self-published authors as it is someone who will read the book and provide early feedback and help the author understand areas that need work and areas that readers enjoy.

As for the book. Is this something that would interest you? The Final Born is set in an Ancient Greek inspired world. It is multi-pov, third-person, in the fantasy genre. (Still deciding if it is YA or NA). The story has many fantastical races: from the bird-like Voltuans to the scorpion race of the Skorvians. It handles questions of fate and how we control it’s outcome, if at all. The blurb is below!

Do we control our fate? Or does fate control us?

A cursed princess, a secondary heiress, and an amnesiac guard, In the Empire of Vasyla the balance hangs on a thin thread as Emperor Oryons reign is nearing its end. The royal scions must soon face each other in the bloody battle for the throne. Yet as the challenge nears and strange things begin occurring in the empire the fate of the people may lie in the hands of its three misfits.

Yet none of these three even control their own fate – let alone the fate of their country. Princess Calypso cannot avoid her untimely death, Lady Ophelya can’t escape her sister’s shadow, and Leandre can’t defend himself or others from his past.

Will these three be able to twist fate and make their own choices in their lives for their empire? Or is fate absolute – and the empire destined to fall?
