I’ve added to my dragons-hoard of books after an excellent time thrifting/antiquing. October was a GOLD MINE for thrifting. I went around to some thrift shops I’ve never been to near college, and found so many books for $1-2 each. I now have a lovely collection of books and so many on my TBR. A great problem to have really!
Since I am still getting around to reading them all to make little review/recommendation posts on them each, I wanted to talk about 4 stories on my TBR I plan to read soon, and why I am excited to read them.
The Next 4 on the TBR

1. The Wild Huntress by Emily Lloyd-Jones
I chose this as my BOTM and honestly I’m so hyped for it. I’ve read the prologue and the first chapter already, and by gosh it is an enchanting read so far! I’ve heard it’s based on Welsh mythology, it includes faeries and has a strong female mc. I’m so excited for this as it’s the perfect vibe for fall-also, the cover is gorgeous. When I was taking flatlay images for Instagram, the ones with this book came out the best.
Reasons I can’t wait to read:
- Fantasy with Welsh Mythology
- Strong Female MC
- Multi-POV

2. Godkiller by Hannah Kaner
This is one of the first books I just had to get based on the cover alone. I mean, holy cow look at it! Of course, the cover is simply what grabbed my attention (I know, I know, don’t judge a book by it’s cover but when the cover is that gorgeous how can one not?!) but the blurb made me confident in my decision to buy it. It’s an adult fantasy novel about a woman who makes a living killing gods, until she finds one she cannot kill. It’s such a unique concept and I can’t wait to start reading it!
Reasons I can’t wait to read:
- Adult Fantasy
- Mythology Style
- Diverse Cast

3. Realm Breaker by Victoria Aveyard
I wanted to read this book since it released but never really got around to getting myself a copy and then I found it at my local thrift shop in almost pristine condition and I snatched it up so fast! I’m so excited to read this since I loved the Red Queen series when I was younger.
Reasons I can’t wait to read:
- Fantasy with Medieval Kingdom and Pirates
- Large Cast
- Coastal Setting
- Victoria Aveyard

4. The Uninvited Guests by Sadie Jones
Another book I thrifted-I’ve been wanting to read more books set around the 1920s, as I loved Downton Abbey and I would like to read more around that period as I get ready to rewrite The Spellbound Abbey for this next year. The premise sounds intriguing, and I love a good mystery!
Reasons I can’t wait to read:
- Early 1900s Setting
- Historical Fiction
- Edwardian Gothic Mystery
I’m a little nervous about this one as it doesn’t have the best ratings, but I’ve loved books that majority dislike and I’ve disliked books that majority loved so we shall see!
So there’s my TBR! I’ve really slowed down with reading in recent years, so it will be a little bit before I can post reviews of any of these books-but be sure to keep an eye out for that over on my Instagram page! @Bookishmasonmonteith
Cheers,
Mason Monteith
