Monthly Recap: May 2024

The Final Born Updates…

So… The Final Born released this month! It has received so much love since it’s release date – I am so glad everyone is loving it so far!

We had a few hiccups with Amazon not showing it being available at first, but now you can get the book on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kindle Unlimited, and direct on my website under the books page for The Final Born.

I’m honestly so hyped to have the book out, but also I’m kinda like… what now? I’m working on book two on and off and working on some side projects as well to keep the creative juices flowing. So glad to have the book out at long last though!

On Goodreads we have 35 reviews leading up to a total of 3.83 stars! On Amazon we have a 4.0 star rating! The reviews are pretty in depth, and I’ve actually found a lot of useful feedback in them to reference for my future works, so be sure to check them out if you’re on the fence about reading my book.

Other News this May

We have a lot more going on over on my Instagram account right now!

Non Serviam Tour

I was able to be included in the book tour for Non Serviam! The first book in the Hypostasis of Dissent series, by Sfarda L. Gül! A grim dark political mystery with fantasy vibes. This book is written in an experimental style to produce a feeling of poetry, the theatre, and classics. The story revolves around political pondering in a philosophical manner targeting totalitarianism, colonial legacy, and state violence.

Sound like your cup of tea? Check out the blurb below for more information!

Expressing emotion is prohibited by law in the city state of Vencenza. Beneath its tyrannical shadow, Giorgianna, a deranged former playwright turned political fugitive, flees a brothel to seek justice for the murder of a beloved friend. When the last remnants of her bloodline are reaped by the incorrigible Minister of Dominion, Giorgianna’s crooked path to retribution crosses with Vencenza’s Machiavellian revolutionary hellbent on regime overturn. All the while, the weight of unending tragedy erodes Giorgianna’s psyche into a vengeful bloodlust plagued by cabbalistic visions hinting at an ever-darker face of the violent Powers That Be.

When Shadows Seek Light

Guess what book releases on June 3rd?! That’s right, it’s Sarah C. Davies’s debut novel – When Shadows Seek Light! My post on this will be out shortly. I was an ARC reader for this book and while it took me a while to get around to reading it (life, am I right?) I absolutely adored it!

When I tell you this is a cozy read I mean it. I’m not usually a fan of many romance novels (I am extremely picky with how it is portrayed) but Sarah C. Davies did a phenomenal job writing an enemies-to-lovers story with captivating relationship development! The story is fast-paced, has a strong FMC, and makes an excellent debut novel. Be sure to check this out if you’re looking for a fae romance novel. I’ve been wanting to get into more fae stories for a while so this was a delight!

Bookstagram Account?

So, my Instagram is now a Bookstagram! Since I don’t have constant updates to post now that my book is out and other projects are in the drafting phase – I’ve been using my Instagram to post book reviews and my tbr. If your looking for book recommendations or want to recommend a book to me – be sure to go check it out! @BookishMasonMonteith.

That’s it for May! The Final Born is out, and now new projects are on the horizon! I’ll share more about book two’s progress as I get more done – so look forward to more adventures with Calypso, Ophelya, and Leandre. (And in book two, one more character will be joining the main lineup!)

As always thank you for supporting my writing journey!

I hope you had a wonderful May, and that June is even better!

Cheers,

Mason Monteith
